What We're Watching

These are the issues Watermen's Alliance is currently monitoring, responding to, or actively engaged in on behalf of the California spearfishing community.

About the Alliance

Why Community Engagement Matters

Regulatory and policy decisions affecting spearfishing access are made through public processes — commission hearings, comment periods, and formal agency proceedings. These processes are open to public input, but only if organized, credible voices show up.

When the spearfishing community is absent from these proceedings, decisions get made without our perspective. When it is present — informed, prepared, and organized — the outcome can be meaningfully different. That is the core argument for sustained, issue-based advocacy.

Watermen's Alliance tracks these issues so that member clubs and individual watermen don't have to monitor every regulatory calendar on their own. When something important is happening, the Alliance works to make sure the community knows about it — and has the tools to respond.
